“There are no bad notes.”

I’ve heard musicians say, “There are no bad notes.”; that what is important is the note or the notes that follow. I believe the same to be true with painting. Don’t give up or try to cover up an element that didn’t have the intended result. Because then it looks like a mistake. Rather respond, react in the moment and/or step back and consider the possibilities. Let it take you in a new direction. This is how we discover and learn. In fact, challenge yourself to incorporate elements that you are uncertain of the outcome. Walk the tight rope. It is scary but exhilarating.
